Today I’ve published: deb-gen.sh - a Debian Package extractor and builder.

with it you can extract .deb package, edit whatever you want and rebuild it without any problem :-)

I’ve corrected the debian package xserver-xorg-input-synaptics_0.99.2-0.1_i386.deb that you can find here: http://alioth.debian.org/~dsalt-guest/eee/

There was a dependency problem that prevented the installation in Ubuntu 8.10 (codename: intrepid), correcting the dependecy reference seems to solve this problem.

You can now use your elantech touchpad with kernel 2.6.28!

It’s all ok!!

all works ok, kernel 2.6.28 gives you full support to your eeepc 900 hardware without any type of patch!

You have only to update xserver-xorg-synaptics to the latest version: 0.99.* otherwise you won’t have the complete touchpad support (by elantech driver included in the kernel).

so I’ve created by myself a debian package for my nslu2 (armel arch!): highlight_2.6.12-1_armel.deb
